After re-structuring a range of projects, we are pleased to report that all of our construction programmes are pushing-ahead to plan – of course under safe working conditions and within government guidelines.
Success is perhaps best underlined by receiving warm compliments from our client Close Brothers Merchant Bank, as we hand-over Phase 1 - approx 25,000ft2 - of their major City project on-time - against all the odds of Covid challenges and early disruption.
In these difficult times, it’s worth highlighting that Rockstone’s business and professional resources remain robust and active, as we continue to service a full ongoing workload, plus support the future plans of our wider client-base.
As the whole world tries to come to terms with the unprecedented and fast-changing circumstances around Covid19, we have this month needed to sharply focus on what this means to our client’s operations and plans. Plus of course immediately address its effects on continuing to run our live construction sites – safely.
As our clients and ourselves adjust to remote-working (and, at times, with not always perfect video-conference skills and connectivity!), all parties are relieved to find that the results prove remarkably positive in terms of successfully servicing project needs.
Another positive highlight is signing-off on an important design milestone for our client Numis Securities’ new 45,000ft2 City HQ, for occupation next year. A great achievement.
The effects of Covid19 begin to make themselves painfully felt as the month progresses. This resulted in us chairing a range of client workshops and board-level debates regarding potential impact to existing strategies and future workplace projects, many of which require fundamental re-thinking and re-structuring.
MIPIM 2020, the pre-eminent international Commercial Real Estate congress in Cannes is cancelled almost last-minute, resulting in major disarray to 20,000+ senior property professionals and their business plans.
Amidst this new, disruptive and at times bewildering environment, Rockstone thankfully remains busy across a spectrum of significant projects and client strategies. Understandably, some forthcoming projects are temporarily put on ice though, so we are particularly delighted to be starting on our third workplace project for our client Product Madness (Aristocrat) as they expand their operations at 1 Finsbury Circus to a total of over 30,000ft2.
Rockstone commence working with our new client Euromonitor International on the rationalisation and re-design/refit of their two London buildings totalling some 20,000ft2. This begins with a requirement to conduct a workplace consultancy study across the entire staff and the two sites.
We also attend and celebrate delivery of the stunning new Porto 3000m2 project for Revolut – an amazing re-design and transformation of a 1900s semi-derelict stone-built factory/ warehouse into a modern and stylish working facility for over 300 people.

No time for chatting about it though as Rockstone push towards delivering a busy workload, and specifically completing another two floors at Canary Wharf for Revolut for a fast-approaching end-January. This additional 35,000ft2 brings the HQ project to a total of approx 85,000ft2 overall, designed and delivered on a fast-track basis over the past 2 years.
We commence on first-stages of a Workplace Consultancy project for NBEUK, plus are supporting their building-search, site visits and evaluations, working alongside Knight Frank as the client’s property agents
Also we deliver and celebrate the handover of the impressive new Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in SW1 - the culmination of a highly enjoyable, educational and successful four-year relationship with the embassy and senior ambassadorial representatives and staff. Countless wonderful experiences, for which we thank them all.
Rockstone blows off steam at our Café Boheme Christmas Party in Soho, allowing everyone to relax and have fun after another full-on year. We also raise a glass and toast our incredible range of amazing and loyal clients.
The National Bank of Egypt appoint Rockstone for their forthcoming London HQ relocation - a highly prestigious project of some 15,000ft2. We are excited to be working with the Bank’s leadership team between London and Cairo on such an important undertaking, as they plan their departure from their current St James premises for pastures-new after many decades.
Rockstone are honoured to be the guest of the Ambassador of Indonesia for the nation’s Independence and Armed Forces Day celebration held in the magnificent Langham Hotel ballroom.
Rockstone deliver the results of a major 3-month Workplace Consultancy project for Close Brothers, focusing on ways-of-working, operations and staff. This forms the basis of a master plan for a major new occupational strategy and Design Brief.
We also commence on a second project with Graphite Capital, re-designing and re-fitting their Air Street HQ.
Rockstone Private Client Lunch 2019 – another tremendous turn-out and experience, with nearly 40 clients attending a sit-down lunch - and possibly a wee drink or two - at the excellent Bleeding Heart restaurant in Clerkenwell (a new venue for us, having outgrown our long-standing previous favourite in Fitzrovia).
Back-to-school after a busy summer, as we continue to work with one of our long-term London clients over many months to help deliver new overseas offices – including Moscow 40,000ft2, Vilnius 10,000ft2 and Porto 30,000ft2. The latter being a particularly fascinating conversion of a 19thC industrial building within a conservation area.
We are also appointed to a further project for our client Investindustrial private equity, re-designing and re-fitting their Cardinal Place HQ to accommodate continued growth and success.
